Privacy policy
Last updated 2 September 2026
Avitail is an inventory manager for aircraft crews. This policy describes what the app stores, what leaves your device, who else processes it, and how to have it deleted. It covers the Avitail mobile app and this website.
The short version: Avitail stores the account you sign in with and the aircraft inventory you create. It is not an advertising product. Your data is never sold, and it is never used to train anyone's AI models.
What Avitail stores
- Your account
- When you sign in with Google or Apple, Avitail stores your user ID, and the display name, email address and profile photo those services provide. If you choose Apple's “Hide My Email”, Avitail only ever sees the relay address. Passengers who join an aircraft from a shared code get an anonymous account with no name or email attached.
- The aircraft data you create
- Aircraft details, storage spaces and their arrangement, inventory items, quantities, expiry dates, and any notes or labels you add.
- Photos
- Photos you attach to items, storage spaces, or a cabin diagram, taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library. Avitail reads your photo library only for the images you pick.
- Crew and access
- Which people have access to which aircraft and at what role, and any invitations you send or accept.
- Activity history
- A record of changes to an aircraft — what changed, when, and which crew member made the change. This is a feature of the product: shared inventory is only trustworthy when changes are attributed.
- Notification tokens
- If you enable notifications, a per-install push token so alerts (such as expiring stock) can reach that device.
- Diagnostics
- Crash reports and basic usage analytics — device model, operating-system version, app version, app opens, and which screens are used — so faults can be found and fixed. Crash reports are associated with your user ID so a report can be matched to a support conversation.
What leaves your device, and when
Avitail is offline-first: the aircraft you have access to are kept on the device and stay fully usable with no connection. Changes are synchronised to the server when a connection is available. Two features send data beyond that, and both are triggered only by an explicit action you take.
- Voice
- Speech is transcribed by your device's own speech-recognition service — Apple's on iOS, your chosen provider's on Android. Where the device supports on-device recognition, Avitail requests it, and no audio leaves the device. Where it does not, the platform may send audio to its own servers to transcribe, under that platform's privacy policy. Avitail does not record or store audio in either case; it receives only the text.
- AI capture and dictation
- When you photograph a shelf for AI capture, or finish a spoken walkthrough, the photo or the transcript is sent to Anthropic's API to draft the corresponding inventory changes. Anthropic processes it to return that result and does not use it to train models. The result is always a proposal you review and approve — nothing is written to an aircraft from an AI response alone.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in, database, file storage, crash reporting, analytics, and notification delivery.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, notification delivery, and on-device or server speech recognition.
- Anthropic — the AI capture and dictation features described above.
- Expo — delivery of app updates, which involves your device requesting an update from Expo's servers.
Avitail does not sell personal information, does not share it for advertising, and contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
Inventory data is kept for as long as the aircraft exists in Avitail. Deleting an aircraft permanently deletes its storage spaces, items, photos, history, and access records. Removing a crew member from an aircraft revokes their access immediately; the changes they made remain in that aircraft's history, attributed to them.
To delete your account and everything attached to it, email support@avitail.com from the address you signed in with. Accounts are deleted within 30 days of the request.
Your choices
- Camera, photo library, microphone, and notification access are each requested when first used and can be revoked at any time in your device's settings.
- You may request a copy of the data held about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to the address above.
Children
Avitail is a tool for aircraft crews and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who processes it, the date at the top will change and the app will point you here.
